The Watchmen #1-12 the WATCHMEN
All 12 issues             DC 1986

Alan Moore's 1986 mini-series that revolutionized the comics industry and established him as a comicbook superstar writer.

Shown here is a scan of only the first three books.

All 12 issues have been bagged and boxed since purchased and are in MINT to NEAR MINT condition.

At the same time I purchased these I also bought the trade paperback and only handled THAT as I read this incredible story: Richard Nixon is the still the president and the clock to global war is ticking. One rogue superhero develops and implements a plan to bring all the nations of Earth together and circumvent the politics of world war. A GREAT story. Art by Dave Gibbons.

Three MORE books featuring Alan Moore:
Anything Superman #423 DC Comics Presents #85
Anything Goes #2
December 1986 (cover by Frank Miller)

Published monthly by the Comics Journal this a "benefit" issue, in which all the artists donated their work to the project, the proceeds of which went towards paying the Comics Journal legal bills in a libel litigation initiated by MIchael Fleisher. Alan Moore contributed the controversial story "Pictopia". Other contributing artists are: Jack Kirby, Art Speigleman, Jamie Hernandez and Frank Miller. Recommended for mature readers, this book is special.

Superman #423
DC Comics  September 1986 (last book by artists Curt Swan and George Perez)

Alan Moore was assigned the task of killing Superman in the transition of that book to writer/artist John Byrne. This is the first part of a two part story continued in Action Comics #583. In a marketing gimmick DC Comics ENDED the Superman series with this book then re-numbered the Superman books with #1 being the first issue by Byrne. The cover states "HISTORIC LAST ISSUE".
DC Comics Presents #85
DC Comics September 1985 (art by Rick Veitch)

Superman is saved by the Swamp Thing from a Kryptonian fungus that landed on a meteorite. Dark and disturbing, this story is recommended for mature readers. Superman goes insane and burns everything around him, including the Swamp Thing. A good example of Alan Moore's macabre treatment of the many super-heroes he wrote stories for.
Alan Moore
V for Vendetta, 2000 AD, Marvelman, Miracleman, Swamp Thing, the Watchmen, numerous awards in Britain and the United States...  a significant writer affecting the history of sequential art and the comics business since 1980.
